    Description

Offered for sale is this signed 1954 Speaker of the House of Representatives Joseph W. Martin Jr. original letter with its original mailing envelope in good to very good overall condition. The letterhead is titled, "The Speaker's Rooms House of Representatives Washington, D.C". It was mailed to the American Irish Society in Chemung County NY thanking them for a St. Patrick's Day Greeting that was sent to him from the Irish Society. Joseph W. Martin, Jr. was the 44th Speaker of the House from 1947-1949 and again in 1953-1955. He represented the 14th District covering North Attleborough Massachusetts. The letter is dated March 18, 1954. This is original Congressional paper as it has the Eagle Watermark in it that I tried to show in one of the photos. The letter itself is in very good condition showing very light yellowing. The envelope is in fair to good overall condition as it has yellowed with some foxing or tanning as can be seen. The edges also have some wear. Shipping and handling to any of the 50 states is .00 and will be paid for by the winning bidder. It will be well packed and boxed for a safe delivery. If you are an International buyer, I only ship Internationally through the Ebay Global Shipping Program. Thank you for looking at this historic ephemera piece of American history!
