    Description

Offered for sale is this vintage lot of United States Political Ephemera Paper in good to very good overall condition. It consists of 4 signed letters and 3 signed envelopes from the US House of Representatives and US Senate. The smaller signed letter is from House of Representatives member DeWitt S. Hyde of the 6th District, Maryland. This is the only letter without a watermark on it. The letter without an envelope was from the "Office of the Majority Leader Congress of the United States House of Representatives" member Charles A. Halleck, 2nd District of Indiana. This letter has half an Eagle Watermark on each side of the paper. There is also one letter and envelope from Edwin C. Johnson on United States Senate paper and that one has a full Eagle Watermark that is very easily seen in it. Senator Edwin Johnson represented the State of Colorado. The last letter and envelope was from House of Representatives Congressman Abraham J. Multer from the 13th District of New York. This Watermark reads, "FRANCONIA AMERICAN MADE BOND". In the photos I tried to show all of the watermarks here. All letters were signed by the Congressmen but I believe that the signatures on the envelopes are lithographic ones as the ink matches the color of the print work on the left sides of the envelopes. All of the letters were sent to the American Irish Society of Chemung County New York and were thanking the Society for sending them St. Patrick's Day greetings! There is some light yellowing from time as to be expected. The envelopes all have some wear on the edges and light foxing. The letters are in very good overall condition. There are 4 letters and 3 envelopes making this lot have a total of 7 items. This is a good historic lot of Political Paper and would make a fine addition for any public or private collection.
